Patna, January 24, 2012 (PTI) An MOU was today signed between the State Health Society, Bihar and the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, United Kingdom, and Micronutrient Intiative for implementation of Childhood Diarrhoea Management Programme in 15 districts of the state.
The SHS Executive Director Sanjay Kumar, Micro-nutrient Initiative Regional Director (Asia) Melanie Galvin and CIFF Managing Director Peter McDermott signed the tripartite agreement at a function here.
Under the agreement, THE MI-CIFF will provide Rs 37 crore in four years (2011-12 to 2014-15) for supply of nine lakh combo kits having 14 taste masked, dispersible zinc sulphate tablets, two packets of ORS, training of health and ICDS functionaries to contain diarrhea among the children.
Bihar has an incidence of diarrhea at 1.71 per child per year with peaks during rainy and winter seasons. PTI KDK MD MD 01241818
