CORPORATE IT UPDATE-(C)1995-2011 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

Mar 4, 2011 - Poland's Infrastructure Ministry is poised to press operators to improve the quality of broadband services, daily Gazeta Wyborcza said today.

The ministry has drawn up an amendment to the telecommunications act which requires Internet providers to offer customers a guaranteed minimum speed. It cannot be less than 90% of the advertised download rate. For instance, if the operator promises 10 Mb/s, the speed is to be at least 9 Mb/s. If the Internet is running slower than specified in the contract, the customer will not be obliged to pay subscription fees.
