Vic: SES wants motorists to take break to cut road toll

The State Emergency Service is urging motorists to take a break on their return journeys
home today.

SES volunteers expect to serve more than 120,000 cups of tea to motorists on one of
the year's busiest days on the state's roads.

The aim is to ensure drivers take a break, saving them from causing accidents through
tiredness or lack of concentration.

SES spokesman PETER COCKS says 1,000 volunteers will run the Driver Reviver campaign
at 65 sites on major roads and will also provide coffee and snacks.

He has urged travellers to allow enough time for their journey, to take a 15 minutes
break at least every 90 minutes and not to drive at times when they would usually be asleep.
