NSW: Children's tattoos, face paint withdrawn

SYDNEY, Dec 17 AAP - Some stick-on tattoos and face paint for children are among 31
children's cosmetic items withdrawn from sale on the back of recent surveys by the national
consumer watchdog.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said the products, which ranged
from no-name brands to Disney items, had not been labelled properly and may pose risks
for children allergic to particular ingredients.

ACCC spokeswoman Louise Sylvan said children's cosmetic products were popular at Christmas.

"The surveys were conducted to provide a timely warning to parents and to reduce the
risk of injury to children by removing non-compliant items from the shelves," Ms Sylvan
said.

Suppliers who did not correctly label products could face court action brought by the ACCC.
