Fed: Labor urges Reith to drop workplace bill altogether

The federal opposition has urged Workplace Relations Minister PETER REITH to ditch
his second wave of industrial reforms.

Mr REITH yesterday dropped plans to list the bill in the Senate next week, saying the
action had become necessary because the Australian Democrats had called off talks on the
legislation.

The Democrats have said they will reject all but a few schedules of the controversial
bill because it is regressive and unfair.

Opposition industrial relations spokesman ARCH BEVIS has welcomed Mr REITH's decision
to withdraw the bill from next week's program.

But Mr BEVIS says the bill should now be consigned to the political rubbish bin for good.
